At Morningside we believe that men who are strong spiritually make strong leaders in our church and in our homes. We have many ministries and events for men to get connected and serve.
Men4Ministry prayer breakfast meets on the second Saturday at 7:00 am. This meeting includes breakfast for only $3.
After a tasty breakfast, Pastor Crockett shares a thought for the day from God’s Word. Then we break up in small groups to pray for as long or short as you're able.
At Morningside, we have 35 current or former pastors. We also have a number of young men who are training for the ministry. So Pastor Crockett had a vision to start a class to allow pastors to mentor future pastors. Each month the group meets for a roundtable discussion of a practical issue in ministry. And each month the ministry mentor meets with his assigned student for lunch, coffee, or to make a ministry visit. The Ministry Mentoring group provides invaluable practical training outside the walls of an academic classroom to help young men solidify their call to ministry and exercise their gifts. Ministry Mentoring men are also given opportunities to preach and be placed in internships at Morningside-supported church plants across the country.
Men's Prayer Meeting
A prayer meeting meets every Friday at 6:30 am in our Chapel for men ages 13 and older. Also, a men’s only session meets one Wednesday a month during the 7:00 pm prayer meeting.
Our ushers are men of all ages who help serve our guests and receive the offering. Since there is flexibility in an usher’s schedule, this is a good ministry for almost any Morningside man.
Our church softball team is co-ed and plays in a church league in the summer. If you're interested in playing, contact the office.
There are two opportunities to play basketball in our gym during the week. If you're an early riser, you can play pick-up basketball on Saturday mornings at 6:00 a.m.
For soccer players, our Spanish ministry plays indoor soccer in the gym on Monday nights from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
God has given our church a group of men from both the English and Spanish ministries who help the pastors provide leadership for both Morningside Baptist Church and Open Door Baptist Missions. These men serve our local church for a three-year term by providing deacon care, serving communion, assisting with baptisms, hosting guest receptions, counting the offering, and overseeing benevolence. In addition to monthly meetings, they also serve on either the building, finance, membership, missions, or technology committees. These men are an integral part of the ministry of Morningside.
