Great Gain (Dr. Josh Crockett, 1 Tim. 6:3-19)

Great Gain (1 Timothy 6:3-19)

Reflecting on Contentment

1.  What does "godliness with contentment is great gain" (1 Timothy 6:6) mean in your daily life? How can you live this out?

2. When have you recently struggled with being content? What fueled that discontentment, and how can you redirect your focus to Christ?

Avoiding the Trap of Riches

3. How might you be tempted to "fall into the trap of riches" (1 Timothy 6:9-10)? What are some specific ways to guard against this?

4. Are there habits or practices in your life that prioritize wealth or possessions over godliness? How can you change those priorities?

The Danger of Discontentment

5.  Advertisers and society constantly encourage us to desire "more." How has this influenced your heart and actions recently?

6.  Reflect on a time when you believed "just a little more" would make you happy. What was the outcome, and what did you learn?

Living Generously

7.   How do you view your money and possessions—as something to keep or a stewardship from God? How does this perspective affect your generosity?

8.  How can you be "rich in good works" and "ready to distribute" (1 Timothy 6:18) this week in practical ways?

Gaining True Treasure

9.    Jesus asks, "What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?" (Matthew 16:26). How does this challenge your current priorities?

10.  Are you storing up treasures on earth or treasures in heaven (1 Timothy 6:19)? What adjustments do you need to make to focus on eternal investments?

Trusting in Christ’s Sufficiency

11.   If all you had was Christ, would He be enough for you? What practical steps can you take to remind yourself that "all you need is Christ; Christ is all you need"?
