STUDENT BLOG
Victor Games: Spring 2026
We’re so thankful for Pastor Webb’s ministry for nearly 30 years over our youth group. He preached for us on January 11, and on the evening of January 25 we’ll have a special farewell service and reception for him and his family. Teens, we hope you can attend Pastor Webb’s final teen activity Friday, January 16. Matt & Krisa Sands visited January 14-18 so that Pastor Matt could candidate for our student pastor opening.
This spring Pastor Ontoy is serving as interim leader for our youth group. We are holding a semester-long competition called the Victor Games.
Each teen will be assigned to a team to earn points. Points are earned by attending, taking sermon notes, memorizing verses, serving in a weekly ministry, inviting friends, etc.
The winning team will be richly rewarded, and the top scorers will win an all expenses special weekend trip to Charlotte with the Ontoys.
We are here to serve you! Reach out with any questions.

Around the World - Seniors' Spring Banquet
Our Morningside Seniors enjoyed a day “Around the World”.

We gave the seniors a taste of different countries with special decor, food, music, and a highly competitive trivia contest. We visited for just a few moments the countries of England, France, Italy, Mexico, Taiwan, and Iceland.
The afternoon was filled with lots of great food and a fun trivia game. Pastor Webb shared a message from Isaiah and information about our teen mission team’s ministry in Iceland this summer.

Christmas Party - Saturday, December 10 (5-8 pm)
Join us for a festive night beginning with a delicious meal as well as games including a gingerbread competition, White Elephant Exchange, and much more.
The cost is $5 plus a White Elephant Gift. The White Elephant Gift can be something re-gifted from home, but please don’t bring any live animals. This is always one of our favorite activities of the evening.
Our party will be at the Kennedy House. You can enter the Kennedy House across the parking area near the church kitchen. Join us beginning at 5:00 pm, and the fun finishes at 8:00 pm.
If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Jeff.
Sneaker Hockey
Our annual Sneaker Hockey will be Friday, April 22 at the Pavilion Recreation Center. Bring a friend and join us for great fun on the ice!
Sneaker Hockey is played on the ice, but thankfully we’re in our tennis shoes instead of ice skates. The puck is replaced with a small ball. It’s a slightly deceiving activity because it’s a different feel to move and run on ice instead of a typical court.
Please arrive at the Pavilion by 9:45 pm for our 10:00 pm rink time. We will be done by 11:15 pm. The cost is $10.00 per person.
Check out some of the pictures from last year’s Sneaker Hockey event below.

Teen Mission Team 2021 - Reno, Nevada
Praise the Lord for a great summer ministry in Reno, Nevada. Please see our video update below. Video credits to Austin Huffman
The summer of 2020 was difficult for many people in many ways. The most difficult thing for me personally was having to cancel last year’s mission trip. It was the first time in 25 years that Bethany and I have not lead a trip. In the summer of 1997, Bethany and I along with my best friend Stephen Wess launched out into our first teen mission team with eleven teens to help Pastor Greg Wright plant Westside Baptist Church in St. George, Utah.
Twenty-five years and twenty-five mission teams later, Bethany and I are still leading teens on foreign and domestic fields to serve the Lord and find their calling from God for the local church. Whether that be in a full time pastoral occupation, as a faithful layman, or the hybrid approach of bi-vocational, we are committed to seeing God use teens far beyond the youth group and Greenville.
This year it is our privilege to lead another group of excited teens to start the ground work for Stephen Wess and team members Andy Gleiser, Daniel Kelting, James Tilson as they plant a church in Reno, Nevada. We will be canvassing, working on some projects, and have opportunities to worship and serve in a local church while there.
Please be in prayer for our team to be effective for this team of church planters and for the Lord to call our teens to serve Him on the church planting domestic frontier.
If you would like to give towards this exciting, spiritually growing opportunity, please give to the Teen Mission Fund through our PushPay or if you would like to donate specifically to a teen then simply write a check and designate for that teen.
We look forward to giving a report of what the Lord accomplished through the teens from the Morningside Youth group at some point this fall.
