Responding to Church Family
Responding to Church Family (1 Peter 3:8)
1. What did the Holy Spirit teach you from this passage?
2. Why is it important for the Body of Christ to be unified?
3. How can a church strive for unity, not uniformity?
4. Why is it important for Christians to allow Christian liberty (Romans 14)?
5. What are ways you can sympathize with brothers and sisters in the church family?
6. Why do you think brotherly (family) love was so important to Peter (1 Pet. 1:22; 2:17; 5:9; 2 Pet. 1:7) and the other NT writers (Rom. 12:10; 1 Thess. 4:9; Heb. 13:1)?
7. Pastor mentioned several compassion/Gospel ministries at Morningside (Backpack Blessings; Good News Club; Loaves & Fishes; Spanish outreach). How could you get involved or find another way to show compassion in or from our church family?
8. Humility was considered a weakness, not a virtue in that culture and in ours. Why is humility so important in responding within a church family?
9. Which of these character traits (humble, compassionate, love as brothers, sympathetic, and likeminded) do you most want to grow in by God's grace? Why?
