Back to School Drive-Thru

On Thursday, August 12 from 9:00-11:00am, Morningside hosted a Back to School Drive-Thru event organized by First Choice by Select Health. News channels WYFF 4 and WSPA 7 were present for the event and the event received coverage on the 4:30 & 5:30 news on WYFF 4.

Last year at Morningside, First Choice’s event gave away car seats for parents of infants and toddlers. This year they focused on school age children from K4-12th. First Choice prepared 300-500 backpacks to give away! Other vendors participated including SC Thrive & WIC.

As a church, we were able to give away over 230 school boxes to parents and kids! The boxes, were filled with school supplies, tract, AWANA card, and Fall Carnival. John & Merrianna Burnette, our Good News Coordinators, were also able to give away invite cards for Good News Club during this event and then later in the evening for the Pelham Road Meet the Teacher event. The Lord gave us good, hot weather to direct cars, welcome guests from the community, and build relationships with First Choice and other vendors for future events.

Please pray for future Gospel opportunities as a result of these outreach efforts. Pray for children to come to Good News Club and Awana this school year. Pray for all teachers, parents and children returning to school.
