Academy of Arts Drama Ministry

Morningside had the privilege of hosting the Academy of Arts Drama Team for the production of “Behold He Cometh” on Wednesday, June 16 in our newly renovated Chapel. This year’s drama team performed a play written by Dr. Nicky Chavers at the age of 16. The drama welcomed unbelievers to come to Jesus, who is our hope. God so loved the world that He gave us His Son. He invites all who are blinded by their sin, to accept His love and enter into His light. For the believer, the drama challenged believers to be ready for the return of Christ by living a life that glorifies God.

This year the Academy of Arts is celebrating 50 years of ministry. Since 1971, Dr. Nicky Chavers led a drama ministry that didn’t seek men’s applause, but desired to see others come to Christ. He trained young people to share the Gospel through drama and challenged them to live for Christ using their God-given talents. On June 1, 2021, Dr. Nicky Chavers entered his heavenly home. We are grateful for the ministry which continues under the direction of his daughter, Nicole Chavers, and son-in-law, Noah Stratton.
