Chinese New Year Sunday!

On Sunday January 26, our Chinese Ministry celebrated their Chinese New Year with a special service and traditional meal.

Preparations for the meal, began with making dumplings at 9:30 in the gym. Several English brothers and sisters came to learn how to make dumplings as well. In the past, dumplings have symbolized good fortune, but are now mainly eaten out of tradition. Dumplings have become a significant part of the Chinese culture.

At 10:30, over 70 people attended the Chinese service where Kevin Chen presented a clear Gospel message from John 3, challenging visitors to consider a new life in Christ. Following the service, more than 125 adults and children, both Chinese and American, enjoyed a Chinese lunch together in the South Wing. Many of the beautiful decorations and special dress were red. Red in the Chinese culture, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. Red remains a traditional color for the Chinese people during their New Year celebrations.

The Chinese New Year celebration was a wonderful time of preaching, music, food and fellowship!
