MORNINGSIDE KIDS
Kids on Mission FAQ
What will my child be learning at Kids on Mission?
This year we will be focusing on the Islands around the world.
1st-5th grade - Kids will enjoy competing in challenging team games. Kids also won’t want to miss our fun dress-up, store and snack nights! Most importantly, kids will open God’s Word where they will explore and memorize 6 Truths: The Bible, The Greatness of God, The Goodness of God, The Trinity, God’s Creation, and God’s View of You.
K4-K5 kids will be tracing the storyline of the Bible through The Big Picture Story Bible. K4-K5 kids will also participate in our craft, game, and snack times. Families will receive a copy of The Big Picture Bible Verses and are encouraged to talk through these questions and Bible verses at home as we talk about them at church. The Big Picture Family Devotional is also a good resource for families to use at home.
Where can I buy a Kids on Mission T-shirt for my child?
T-shirts will be available for $5 each for kids and volunteers beginning 9/11 outside the K4-K5 and 1st-5th grade classrooms.
What are the Bible Truth Booklets?
We will provide a new booklet for each Bible Truth during the school year. Your child should bring the booklet to Kids on Mission each week. Children will have a month to work through each booklet. In the booklet, your child will find an overview of all 6 Bible Truths, memory verses related to the Bible Truth, 10 Bible Truth questions and answers, and a Bible Reading Plan that you can work through with your child or that they can complete independently. You are able to sign off on the Bible Truth Questions & Answers and Bible Reading Plan. Volunteers will sign off for Bible Memory verses. Kids who say the weekly memory verse will receive an award pin to apply to their lanyard. Those who complete more in each booklet will receive a larger award at the end of the school year.
How can my child earn points toward the store?
Most points can be earned through completing parts of the Bible Truth Booklets. Other points can be earned by simply attending Kids on Mission, dressing up for special nights, and donating toward Backpack Blessings.
What is this year’s giving project competition?
This year we will be giving to our missionaries, the Liauws in Indonesia, who operate two orphanages in Jakarta and Borneo. Kids will be divided into two teams for the year and will be competing for the highest giving team. Money given by the children will be matched by the Morningside Children’s Ministry. The Liauws will be receive all funds at the end of the school year. The winning team will be treated to ice cream sundaes.
Is my K4-K5 child required to memorize verses in order to earn money for store night?
No. Each K4-K5 child will be given equal opportunity to shop at the store each semester whether they memorize verses or not. Our goal is to primarily expose them to the Scriptures.
Gospel Project for Kids
It is God’s plan to rescue His people from sin through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Gospel Project exists to point kids to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Kids will discover how God’s plan of redemption unfolds throughout Scripture and still today, compelling them to join the mission of God.
This year we will begin our 3 year chronological study of Scripture in the Old Testament learning about a nation divided, a captive people, and a future hope. The kingdoms of Israel and Judah (1 & 2 Kings) may have been home to God’s chosen people, but they had forgotten about the promise God made to Abraham. However, God had not forgotten His covenant with His people. He loved them them with an everlasting love. This fall, we will follow the scarlet thread of redemption through the conquered and divided kingdoms of Israel and Judah.
Each week, kids will learn:
A true Bible Story with a Christ Connection
A Story Point
A Big Picture Question and Answer
The weekly Activity Sheet provides:
Family discussion questions for you to talk through with your child.
Over several weeks, kids will also learn:
A Key Bible passage
Each quarter, your child will receive:
A set of Bible Story cards to keep for reviewing together at home.
Look for weekly Facebook posts and a weekly blog post highlighting the story point and summarizing each Bible story.
With all this intentional teaching and communication, we pray that the lessons learned will not just become head knowledge for your child, but will penetrate his or her heart with the Gospel week after week.

Children's Ministry Recruitment
On Sunday, Sept 8, we will be focusing on serving our Lord and others across all ministries. If you are praying about volunteering in our children's ministry, please consider joining with those who are currently serving in either our Nursery, Preschool, Elementary, or Kids on Mission areas. Serving in children’s ministry enables you to build relationships with our Morningside Kids and other Morningsiders. Can you be a substitute when needed, serve once a month, twice a month or every other month? Prayerfully consider how God can use you. See the specific needs below and contact our Children’s Ministry Director, Lara Cropsey, if you would like to find your place at Morningside through Children’s Ministry.
Nursery (Infant-K3) 9:15 & 10:30 - (once a month)
Sunday School (K4-5th) 9:15 - (substitute teacher or volunteer)
Preschool (K4-K5) 10:30 & 5:30 - (twice a month as a volunteer or every other month as a teacher)

Back to School Splash
Over 180 parents and children attended our Back to School Splash this past Wednesday night. In addition to our Morningside families, more than 50% of attendees came from our Greenville community. Praise the Lord for these connections and for the opportunity to give away over 100 school supply boxes to children!
Back to School Splash
UPDATE: Our Back to School Splash is still on for tomorrow night from 7:00-8:15 PM. Due to unpredictable weather, the event will be held in the gym. Join us for dry inflatables, snacks, and FREE school supplies!
Family Fun Night
Over 100 parents, kids and children's ministry volunteers came out to Greer City Park on Thursday night for our family fun night. We had a great time of food, fellowship and fun!
